Clare Winslow is a second-generation Washington, D.C. artist whose work is rooted in a lifelong connection to painting and the quiet power of the natural world. Raised in a family of painters, she grew up immersed in color, form, and artistic inquiry. Her layered abstractions offer a contemplative escape from the noise of daily life—inviting viewers to slow down, look closely, and reconnect with a sense of wonder. Informed by memory, light, and lived experience, Clare’s process is both intuitive and precise—built over time through subtle shifts in texture, hue, and rhythm. Her paintings and prints reside in private collections across the U.S., and are valued for their serene presence and emotional clarity. Winslow studied art at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and completed additional training in screenprinting at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. She teaches art and printmaking throughout the D.C. area.

I believe art is a powerful means of healing and transformation, offering solace and insight during challenging times. While inspiration isn’t always a prerequisite for meaningful work, I find creative energy in the natural world, personal memories, and my emotional responses to life’s disruptions. Through my art, I seek to cultivate perspective and a sense of balance amidst uncertainty. My practice centers on the restorative power of creativity, reminding us that even in impermanence, there is beauty, connection, and the potential for renewal.
