Mark Welsh has over 15 years experience as a set designer and prop stylist for commercial photography and film. He is known for merging a scientific background with conceptual abstraction. He has created abstract artworks for clients including: Apple, Google, Rothy’s & Metallica. Prior to his career as a commercial artist, he received with a degree in Engineering from Purdue University. Mark happily lives and works in Amsterdam, NL along with frequent stints at his San Francisco, CA studio where he began his exploration into fine art.

My practice explores the intersections of technology, behavior, and perception. Drawing on a dual background in engineering and art, I create conceptual mixed-media work that provoke reflection on how technology reshapes human experience. My first series of kinetic sculptures are deliberately slow, almost planetary in nature. This creates a purposeful tension with the viewer so they may consider the depth of their own attention.
